Again our trip to Skydive Red Rock in Cottonwood, AZ was scenic, fun, memorable, and we made some great skydives. As always
our members started rolling in on Friday afternoon. Armando and Marcella pulled in at around 1:00pm. After setting up, Armando
hopped on one of the five tandem loads that afternoon. He jumped with Matt Dyer and made a two way fun jump. Vice President
Alex Espinoza showed up around 5:30 and tried his best to set up before the sunset load. In a hurry he threw his rig together and
got on the sunset load with Matt, Eric, and two others that couldn't be identified. The jump went well with a not so great opening
for Alex. On jump one of his repack Alex had to chop it. Everyone made it down without injury and the weekend carried on. Shortly
after sunset Club President David Flores showed up with wife Candice and his kids. David Rotger with wife Danielle and their kids
followed as well as Ruben and Annie. Tyler Freegaurd showed his face a couple hours later with some good friends of ours Kevin,
Laurie, and Yannie. We were all openly and happily welcomed and greeted by Karl Sharon and Alex Priggee along with the rest of
the Red Rock Family and Staff.
After a very successful and slightly inebriated friday evening dinner I think its needless to say that Saturday started off a little
slow. Armando, David F. , Dave R. and Tyler got things started with a CWR attempt with Yanni, it was close but no cigar. My first
jump was with my oldest son Robert on his first tandem skydive. His tandem instructor was Zack, flying video was Rick Evans. Me
and Zack were also flying video with our go pro's. Can't wait to see the finished video. With Robert's jump all 5 of my kids have
made a skydive.
My second jump of the day was with my daughter in-law Cindy for her 30th birthday. Her tandem intructor was Patrick, along with
Rick shooting video once again. Patrick and I were also jumping with our GO Pros but mine had no SD card...(thanks David Flores).
The skydive went great and just as planned except for one small detail. Everyone started the jump with both shoes and when we
landed Cindy only had one. If you happen to see a picture of her tandem as shes leaving the pland take a glance at the top left you
will see her shoe. Great Job Cindy!
The Sunset load turned out to be another CWR attempt with Alex, Dave, Tyler, and myself along with Susan Evans. The skydive
went off very good and all we could do was smile and enjoy the scenery until breakoff. The Green Light was on and the food was
ready and like always it was great. Thank you to all the Rebel Wives Annie, Marcella, Danielle, Candice and Cindy for making it
possible. After dinner the pies started flying as we celebrated some skydive mile stones. David Flores took a little longer than we
expected but we got him good anyway as you will see in the pictures. Congrats to David on his 100th skydive. A few of the Red
Rock crew were set up by Mrs. Sharon priggee and we gave them some dessert too. Congrats to Rick Evans for his 1000th and
then some skydive, David Rosas for his 100th and a little more skydive, and Eric whatshisname for his 100th 200th and damn
near 300th skydive. Did I forget to mention the food was Really great?
As the night went on we had to recognize a few more people. Mrs. Susan Evans was recognized as CWR #54. Congratulations to
Susan. We also showed our appreciation to DZO's Karl and Sharon Priggee and DZ manager Alex Priggee along with their staff
for all of the generosity and hospitality to the Rebel Skydivers and our friends from the flatlands that we never fail to receive
during our trips to Red Rock. It was a great feeling to watch all of our friends and families talk like they've known each other for
20 years. Then again what else would you expect, after all thats what skydivers do. Im not sure but I think the Patron ended some
of our nights early.
Sunday was a beautiful morning after another outstanding breakfast prpared by the Rebel Wives. We all kind of just laid back
enjoyed the morning view and our visit with Craig Myers as he brought hello's from Pat works as well as Bob & Judy Celya from
California. After a few attempts of getting a formation load together it was getting late and we had to call it a weekend. We all
packed up said our goodbyes and prepared for our trip back down the hill. I know it was only a weekend but it felt like a whole
week and we were sad to see it end. Some of the Rebels are returning to Red Rock on June 9th and 10th for a boogie that Alex
Prigge is putting together. I am calling it the "Bikini Boogie" until she comes up with an official name. Annie will be there to do
some cooking (YEAH! ) and hopefully some of the other Rebel wives will come too. So to all of our friends at Red Rock blue skies
and safe skydives.
